A thoughtful piece as usual!

I, too, have experienced/witnessed some of what you talk about, particularly with white gay men who body shame, are racist, transphobic, ableist, or all of the above. I agree with you that people who are a member of one marginalized group, yet act in oppressive ways towards another, can be even more toxic — because we assume they will “get it,” but then they disappoint.

I am working on a piece about “toxicity” within mainstream gay male culture, and you’ve helped me to work through some of my thoughts.
